Mission Fairness Standard

How ChatterFork keeps missions honest. We pay for authentic participation, not positive opinions.

The short versionThe full Standard below is what governs.

1Purpose

ChatterFork's mission program encourages authentic food experiences and helps diners discover dishes based on genuine consumer feedback.

A mission is a bounty for trying a specific dish and sharing an honest review of it. Missions may be sponsored by a participating restaurant that wants a dish discovered, or by ChatterFork, for example to introduce diners to new restaurants. This Standard applies to every mission regardless of who sponsors it.

The program is designed to reward participation, content creation, and legitimate engagement without influencing the opinions expressed by reviewers.

ChatterFork values honest reviews regardless of whether a dining experience is positive, negative, or somewhere in between.

2Review Independence

All mission participants must provide genuine reviews reflecting their actual experiences with the dishes they review.

Mission compensation must never depend on the reviewer's rating, opinion, or expressed sentiment.

A participant who provides an authentic one star review is eligible for the same mission reward as a participant who provides an authentic five star review, provided both meet the same published completion requirements.

No mission sponsor, whether a restaurant or ChatterFork, may require participants to modify ratings, remove negative opinions, or submit favorable reviews to receive compensation.

A reviewer's honest negative opinion must not, by itself, reduce their eligibility for future missions.

3Mission Creation and Availability

Restaurants may create missions according to the features and allowances included in their ChatterFork service tier.

All service tiers are subject to defined monthly mission limits. No service tier permits unlimited paid missions.

Restaurants may identify eligible dishes, campaign objectives, participation limits, deadlines, and content requirements.

ChatterFork may sponsor its own missions, for example to help diners discover new restaurants or dishes. ChatterFork sponsored missions follow every requirement in this Standard that applies to restaurant missions, including equal payout regardless of rating, verification, disclosure and appeal rights.

A restaurant featured in a ChatterFork sponsored mission gains no control over the resulting reviews, ratings or payouts.

Mission requirements must be objective and may not prescribe a particular rating or sentiment.

ChatterFork may establish additional safeguards to prevent excessive mission concentration, repeated participation, or manipulation of review activity.

4Authenticity and Verification

Mission payments are contingent upon successful verification of the participant's submission.

Verification may consider evidence of a genuine dining experience, original submitted content, compliance with published mission requirements, duplicate submissions, account integrity, and indicators of fraudulent activity.

A review may be rejected for documented authenticity failures, fraud, or noncompliance with objective mission requirements.

Reviews may not be rejected simply because a restaurant or ChatterFork disagrees with the reviewer's opinion.

Restaurants may report suspected misconduct, but ChatterFork maintains independent authority over review authenticity decisions and mission payment eligibility.

5Compensation and Content Licensing

ChatterFork recognizes two distinct compensation arrangements.

  • Mission completion compensation rewards a participant for completing a qualifying mission and submitting an authentic review.
  • Promotional content compensation may arise when a restaurant or other authorized party selects eligible creator content for additional promotional use under a separate licensing or campaign arrangement.

Participation in a mission does not automatically entitle a creator to additional promotional compensation.

Selection for promotion does not retroactively alter the original review, rating, or mission payment.

Additional compensation opportunities must be governed by clearly disclosed program terms and applicable content licensing arrangements.

Commercial arrangements must not be used to indirectly condition review compensation or future review opportunities on favorable sentiment.

6Organic and Compensated Review Transparency

ChatterFork will maintain records distinguishing reviews submitted organically from reviews submitted in connection with compensation or other incentives.

Compensated reviews must carry appropriate disclosures identifying their incentivized nature. This applies equally to missions sponsored by a restaurant and missions sponsored by ChatterFork.

Reviews and ratings are associated with individual dishes. Restaurant level ratings and discovery information may be derived from the combined experiences associated with a restaurant's dishes.

ChatterFork may display aggregate ratings incorporating organic and compensated reviews, provided the presentation is not misleading and applicable disclosure requirements are satisfied.

ChatterFork will monitor differences between organic and compensated review activity to identify potentially misleading trends or patterns.

7Paid Engagement and Virality

ChatterFork may establish programs compensating eligible creators for verified engagement, audience reach, content performance, or other defined outcomes.

These programs must establish objective qualification standards, measurement periods, and payment rules.

Artificial engagement, purchased interactions, coordinated manipulation, automated traffic, or other fraudulent activity may result in disqualification.

Additional engagement compensation must not depend on the positivity of the underlying food review.

8Enforcement and Appeals

ChatterFork may withhold or deny mission payments when documented evidence establishes that a participant failed to meet published eligibility or authenticity requirements.

Participants must be provided with a reasonable process to challenge rejected submissions or suspected fraud determinations.

ChatterFork will maintain appropriate records of mission approvals, rejected submissions, payment decisions, and related investigations.

Mission standards will be reviewed periodically to support fairness, integrity, regulatory compliance, and the reliability of ChatterFork's food discovery platform.

9Foundational Principle

ChatterFork pays for authentic participation, not positive opinions.

The integrity of a food review must remain independent of who sponsors a mission and of any restaurant's commercial relationship with ChatterFork.
